Naxi Ancient Music

Intangible Cultural Heritage Music Concert

$30.00$15.00

Naxi Ancient Music is known as a “living fossil” of ancient Chinese music and is a very valuable form of intangible cultural heritage.

It is especially precious because it brings together three rare treasures:

  • Very old musicians (over 80 years old),

  • Ancient musical instruments (more than 800 years old),

  • Ancient music based on poems and melodies from the Tang and Song dynasties, such as Lang Tao Sha, Ba Gua, and Shou Jing Ji.

The Naxi Ancient Music Association was founded in 1986.
Since then, it has been invited to perform in more than 20 countries around the world.

A CD released over 20 years ago has been collected by the British Museum, and a documentary made in the early years of the association is permanently kept by the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
